Laboratory Logistics Is Not Standard Courier Work
Laboratories face some of the most complex dangerous goods transport requirements of any sector. The combination of biological substances, temperature-sensitive materials, toxic reagents, and strict documentation requirements means a standard courier is almost never appropriate — and often not legally permitted.
DGX specialises in exactly this. Our in-house DGSA reviews every laboratory consignment before collection, confirms correct UN classification, and ensures documentation is complete. You hand over a compliant shipment. We deliver it the same way.
Request a QuoteWhy laboratory shipments need a specialist courier
- UN classification review by our in-house DGSA before every collection
- UN3373 and dry ice packaging verified for every biological consignment
- ADR transport documents in mandatory 5.4.1 format with Tremcard
- COSHH SDS review included — no additional admin required from you
Materials We Transport for Laboratories
Biological Substances, Category B
Clinical specimens, diagnostic samples, research materials. Requires UN3373-labelled packaging and compliant outer box. DGX handles discreetly with no external content marking.
Dry Ice (Solid CO₂)
Class 9 cryogenic preservation. Requires ventilated packaging, correct net weight declaration, and driver awareness training — all standard with DGX.
Chemical Reagents
Acids, bases, oxidising agents, organic solvents. Each classified by UN number, packing group, and SDS. Our DGSA reviews every consignment before collection.
COSHH-Regulated Substances
Formaldehyde, formalin, chlorinated compounds. Full SDS review included — we ensure transport classification aligns with your COSHH documentation.
COSHH Note: COSHH regulations require employers to control substances hazardous to health — including during transport. DGX ensures your supply chain remains compliant at every stage, with SDS documentation reviewed prior to every collection.
Our Lab Transport Process
SDS & Classification Review
Our in-house DGSA reviews your Safety Data Sheet and confirms ADR classification, UN number, and packing group before a vehicle is dispatched.
Packaging Verification
We confirm or advise on UN-approved packaging requirements for your substance. Where cold chain is needed, we coordinate dry ice or appropriate insulation.
ADR Documentation
Complete transport documentation generated for every consignment — in the 5.4.1 format with Tremcard. Nothing moves without the right paperwork.
Discreet, Professional Delivery
No external indication of contents on the vehicle. Drivers are trained and professional. Particularly important for NHS, research, and pharmaceutical clients.
